Rebecca Kaufman is the Director of Public Health for Wake County, NC. Wake County Public Health is a large local health department offering a wide range of public health programs including specialty health clinics, environmental health, nurse home visiting and prevention services in the community. Wake County Public Health is nationally recognized for their work around health equity during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to build on that work with the community each day.

Rebecca joined Wake County in 2021 as the Public Health Division Director. Previously she was the Public Health Director in Broome County, NY and the Deputy Health Director in Tioga County, NY. Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic earned recognition from  the New York State senate and legislative woman’s caucus. Rebecca achieved her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from the State University of New York at Cortland.
