KID CONNECT: Community Capacity Building Workshops

Does your community group, faith outreach, or volunteer team interact with families with young children in Wake County? We want to partner with you to help make sure every child has access to the support and resources they need to build a strong foundation in the early years.

DID YOU KNOW that the brain grows faster from birth to age 5 than at any other time in a person’s life? During their first few years, children are literally building the foundation that will support all future learning.

KID CONNECT workshops and conversations can take some stress off your team and make it easier to link more families with FREE programs to:

Find quality child care
Prepare children for Kindergarten
Help with concerns about child development or behavior
Support new parents, caregivers, and pregnant women
Promote early literacy skills and encourage reading

Goal

To build the capacity of our community partners to identify and link more children, ages birth to 5, and their families to FREE programs that can support them.

Workshop Description

WHO?

Community organizations
Faith outreach groups
Volunteer teams
Any group who works with young children (from birth to age 5) and their families in Wake County
This is an introductory-level workshop offering. If you are an early childhood professional, reach out about other ways you can be involved.

WHAT?

Your team will learn about the many FREE early education and family support programs in Wake County and how to access them.
You’ll learn how we can work together to assess local gaps in access, connect more families to resources, and enhance and broaden your community outreach work with young children and their families.
Content will be individualized based on each group’s priorities.

HOW?

Participants will receive a toolkit for early childhood resource linkage that is specific to their region of Wake County. The toolkit will include resource materials and tools for planning outreach with families.
