Legislators Receive Pre-K Valentines

On Wednesday, February 14, Wake County SmartStart Executive Director, Pam Dowdy hand delivered colorful Valentines created by children in Wake County Pre-K classrooms to each of 170 legislative offices at the North Carolina General Assembly. Judging from the enthusiastic response they generated, it was clear these messages from the hearts of young children struck a resounding chord in the hearts of many of our state leaders. Here's what just a few of the legislators had to say.

"As a grandfather to four and the husband of an educator, I am a strong supporter of early childhood education." declared Representive Ken Goodman as he received a Pre-K child-crafted Valentine.

Senator Don Davis, NC Senate District 5 expressed his appreciation for Smart Start's efforts across the state, "Thank you for what you are doing every day to get our children off to the right start. I am very grateful for your work."
